Early Chrome OS Build Leaked

chromeostheme2.pngAn early build of Google Chrome OS has been leaked after it was discovered amongst the Chrome (that is the browser, not the operating system) daily builds. Google has since pulled the build from its public site, but not before Jonathan Frederickson was able to download it. TechCrunch reports that Frederickson has released the build to the public and has also taken some screenshots of the operating system.

A computer running Debian or a Debian-based Linux distribution is required to use this build. It is an early build of the OS, meaning that many features are absent and it is prone to bugs and crashes.

Google Chrome OS is a lightweight, Linux-based operating system targeted at netbooks. It will be released in the second half of 2010.
